Long story short it appears as if we might not be alone (and by we I mean the human race). I am not privy to all the details...yet but here is a what I can tell you out of what I know. Not long ago an energy was discovered (we call this energy XM). Along with this energy came new ideas and technology, possibly alien in origin. We call them "Shapers" and they are trying to help us progress; help us save ourselves from ourselves. There is a group; they call themselves the Resistance that are actively working against us. Something about trying to save humanity, worthless trash is what they are. They are actively trying to ruin our chance at jumping ahead in human evolution, progressing further along in technological advances than ever before. I truly believe the human race is on a collision course with extinction, the Shapers will help us learn how to not only avoid that but correct what we have done wrong thus far.
Enough about my beliefs let me tell you what little I can about how we are going to save humankind.
This XM appears to come out of portals, nothing you or I can see but we have special detectors that allow us to locate it. These are built into cell phones so as not to draw unwanted attention. These detectors also allow us to collect small amounts of the XM that we can use. I believe there are a few uses for it but so far all we learned how to do is deploy equipment near these “portals" that allow us to "claim" them. This is some seriously cool sci-fi looking equipment, we call them resonators. I'm not sure exactly how they work but we can deploy them around these portals, this allows us to partially control them. Once we control them we can extract technology from them (we call this hacking).
Again I'm not sure exactly how this works but they showed us how to do it, I can't go into detail here though sorry. The neat thing is we never really know what, if anything, we will get out them. Kind of like a grab bag deal lol. These resonators are pretty complex stuff too; it takes a bit of work getting them up and running around a portal, all kinds of strategies on how to do it. Distance from the portal can make a difference; apparently we can "upgrade" them around a portal I have to get more experience deploying the lower tech ones before I can do that though. Once you have max resonators deployed you can link a portal to another nearby one, linking up to three of them together. The area enclosed within the three linked portals gains special benefits, what I'm not sure of yet but I can't wait to find out!
That’s all I've learned so far. It doesn't sound like much but it was full days' work, I'm going to be one happy camper climbing into bed tonight. I'll update again with tomorrow's training.
